August 25, Meeting
WHO/WHAT:
In this age of video games and flashy graphics with
lots of built-in user-aids, people have come to expect a lot from
interactive instructional programs. When, how, and to what extent
should we invest in instructional interactivity?
David Castillo of Karta Technologies will be our
August presenter. His topic will be "Using the Levels of Interactivity
Framework to Guide Your Interactive Development Decisions".
Drawing from his years of experience producing interactive courseware,
David will introduce the concept of "Levels of Interactivity"
framework in guiding decisions about designing interaction into
development of instructional courseware.
David's objectives for this presentation are:
* to use the levels of interactivity framework
to make better decisions about what level of interactivity to use,
and
* to most efficiently allocate limited resources
to achieve interactivity across the different learning modes.
Hey Folks!
In preparation for the upcoming ISPI meeting, Virginia Malone of Hondo
suggests reading Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants by Marc Prensky.
The short paper can be found at <http://www.marcprensky.com/writing/Prensky%20-%20Digital%20Natives,%20Digital%20Immigrants%20-%20Part1.pdf>
.
Thank you Virginia for your contribution.
