Work History

 

2001-2002

The ALI Group

 

Primary support for the Director of Marketing.  Became primary support for the office manager.  Worked on various projects including job description task flow charts, edited Employee Handbooks and also wrote a New Employees Orientation Manual.

 

 

1993-2001

Institute for Job and Occupational Analysis (IJOA)

Worked for an international, not for profit, organization with government contracts.  Sent surveys, both, disk and web-based, to the military (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and UK allies) all over the world.

 

Upon starting there as a volunteer, was the assistant to our office manager, setting up data bases for inventory and personnel files

 

As Data Acquisition Administrator,  was responsible for the production, distribution and integration of all of our international surveys originating in San Antonio. This included uploading data, coordinating mailings with various department analysts and insuring quality control. Upon return of survey disks, was  in charge of database creation including that of virus checking, data uploading and file consolidation.

 

Trained two graduate students (majoring in Industrial Psychology) to support the operations of our Institute.  Organized training handbooks, assisted in the transfer of this training to a web-based format, and contributed to a professional paper documenting this Internet- and CD-ROM-based handbook.  Instituted Soft Skills Training.  These classes were for interpersonal skills in the work place; getting along with management and customer service issues.  This was particularly important as we were working with an international population.

 

1991-92

Progressive Construction Company: On-site office manager and assistant to supervisor. Duties included Daily work logs, time cards, hiring of temporary personnel.  Also in charge of daily operations when supervisor was off-site.  Coordinated weekly job progress reports and schedules with corporate head office.

 

1983 –1990

D-E Erectors Inc: Office Manager of a construction company.  Duties included: Employee hiring, insurance, coordinating bookkeeper and accountant with auditors for quarterly tax purposes, travel arrangements for office personnel and work crew out of town.  Handled general human resources issues such as insurance benefits and workmen compensation claims, etc.  Took an evening course in business law (University of Louisville) to further assist in the daily running of the company and have a better understanding of contract law.

 

1978-82

Associated Builders and Contractors. Chaired Steering Committee to form a woman's board to serve within the men's division of the Associated Builders and Contractors. This is a national organization encouraging merit shop contractors. Served for a one-year term as an elected local president/state representative. Turned down the opportunity to run for the national board due to the travel and time involved.

 

Public service includes:

 

PTA President for 3 years when my children were growing up.

Acted as a liaison to school board from our school area.

Fund raiser for various civic functions, political candidates, volunteer for Special Olympics,

Ronald McDonald House

Local charities:  arranging fundraisers, publicity and coordinator.

1974 Associate in Structural engineering/interior design from University of Louisville (Adult Education)
