Applying "Study" Labels to 170 Unlabeled HRRD CD-ROM Cases

The Desired Outcome -- Labels that look like the existing 1998 HRRD Labels:

<== New Label After the Steps Shown Below

<== Original, 1998 CD-ROM Case Labels

<== The "Case Spine" is the edge with the HINGE pins.  This edge has a flat black surface on the face that DOESN'T MOVE when you lift the lid/open the case. This is important because both the "front" edge and the "spine" look alike when the case is closed.

Overview of Steps:

Step 01 - Assemble Materials and Ensure Case is Facing Up with Spine Towards you:

Step 02 - Ensure that the Label You Lift off MATCHES the CD-ROM Study Number:

<== HRRD CD-ROM w/Case and  Labels made by Armstrong Lab in 1998

<== HRRD CD-ROM with Study Number Written w/Sharpie Pen

<== CD-ROM Case with no external labeling.  Facing UP, Spine Towards YOU.

<== Sheet of Labels.  Ensure Study Number matches # on CD

Step 03 - Align the PENCIL line at the LEFT Edge of the case.  Press lightly to "tack" that left edge ONLY..

Step 04 - Stretch label up high and guide RIGHT End PENCIL Line towards edge of case.

Step 05 - Ensure RIGHT Pencil line aligns with edge.  If necessary, lift label up and try again.

Step 06 - Use the Bent 3 x 5 Index Card to Start the CREASE in the label.  Start at LEFT Side.

Step 07 - Press lightly.  Do NOT Slide the Card.

Step 08 - Pull Card away from label.  Reposition to the RIGHT and repeat the LIGHT Press.

Step 09 - Continue the Pull-away and Light press until you reach the Right edge of the label.

Step 10 - Leaving the Index Card at the RIGHTMOST position.  Use your fingers to PRESS HARD at several points along the index card.  DO NOT SLIDE THE INDEX CARD.

Step 11 - After the last HARD Press, remove index card.  If any part of the label is not firmly attached, re-apply the index card and PRESS HARD at that location.

Step 12 --- You are done with this CD-ROM Case.
